Mary, Mother of God for Kids | The Mother Who Held God
Mary holds Jesus with the tender care every newborn needs. This illustrated reflection places that ordinary scene beside an extraordinary truth: the child in her arms is the eternal Son of God made truly human.
The free resources explain the title Mother of God clearly. Children recall Mary's care, learn that she did not create or precede God, and choose a patient act of love in their own lives.

Talk about it together
What human needs does the infant Jesus have?
Why do we call Mary Mother of God?
Does this mean Mary created God or is greater than God?
What can Mary's trusting care teach us?
A title that points to Jesus
Draw Mary holding Jesus. Beside Jesus write truly God and truly human. Under the picture finish: Mary is Mother of God because ___. Add a small picture of one patient way you can care for another person; discuss how love can be both tender and faithful.
A note for parents and teachers
The quiet household actions are imaginative scene-setting around Luke 2. Mary's title does not mean she began or outranks the eternal God. The solemnity is celebrated on January 1.
Pray together
Jesus, thank you for coming to us through Mary's yes. Mary, Mother of God, pray for us and help us care with love. Amen.
