Advent Week 3 for Kids | Simeon, Anna, and the Hidden King
Mary and Joseph arrive at the Temple with a small child and a humble offering. Simeon and Anna recognize the Savior that others might overlook, and their long waiting becomes joy.
This Advent reflection invites children to notice what matters to God beyond fame and appearances. The accompanying lesson pages recall the Gospel encounter and help children choose a quiet act of love.

Talk about it together
Why did Mary and Joseph bring Jesus to the Temple?
Who recognized Jesus there?
Does being unnoticed mean being unimportant?
How could you show quiet love today?
The kindness no one applauded
Recall Simeon and Anna recognizing the humble child. On a folded card, draw an ordinary act of love on the outside. Inside write why it matters even without applause. Choose one quiet act to do; do not use the exercise to compare children's goodness.
A note for parents and teachers
The Gospel account is Luke 2:22-38. Jesus' sacramental presence in the Eucharist differs from his presence through another person's kindness; people are not disguised consecrated hosts.
Pray together
Jesus, help us recognize you with faith and rejoice in your love. Teach us to love even when no one notices. Amen.
