Saints Ignatius & Polycarp | When My Turn Comes | Catholic Story for Kids
Updated: Oct 18
How do we learn to be brave when following Jesus is difficult? When Saint Ignatius of Antioch arrived in Smyrna in chains, he encouraged his friend Saint Polycarp to stand firm in faith. Years later, Polycarp would face his own great test—and the courage he had practiced through a lifetime of prayer and loving service would shine. “When My Turn Comes” is an animated Catholic story about friendship, faithfulness, and the everyday choices that prepare us to follow Christ when it matters most. For children and families, this story offers a simple reminder: courage grows when we tell the truth, forgive, care for others, and stay close to Jesus. A question to share after watching: What is one small way you can practice courage today? This dramatized retelling includes imagined conversations and reflections to help young viewers connect with the saints’ witness. Saints Ignatius and Polycarp, pray for us!
After watching, families and catechists can talk about one moment that stood out, what it shows about following Jesus, and one small way to put that lesson into practice this week.
