Saint Josephine Bakhita: From Slavery to True Freedom | Catholic Story for Kids
Updated: 7 days ago
Taken from her home in Sudan as a child, Bakhita endured years of slavery before traveling to Italy. There she met the Canossian Sisters and began learning about Jesus. This animated Catholic story follows her discovery that God knew her, loved her, and called her to freedom.
After gaining her freedom, Josephine received Baptism and later became a Canossian sister. Her quiet work of cooking, sewing, and welcoming visitors became a life of service. Her story invites families to reflect on dignity, hope, and forgiveness without excusing the cruelty done to her. How can we choose kindness when life is difficult?
