Lent Week 3 for Kids | Jesus and the Woman at the Well

Mar 2
2 min read

Jesus asks a Samaritan woman for a drink and offers a gift far greater than water from the well. Their conversation brings truth and hope, and she leaves her jar to tell others about him.

The free teaching pages explain the image of living water and invite children to notice Jesus' respectful attention. A well-and-buckets activity connects the Gospel encounter with a practical choice to welcome someone.

Available free on YouTube since March 2, 2026. Watch the complete video above. Runtime: 2:10. Suggested ages: about 7–11.

Talk about it together

What did Jesus ask the woman for?

What was different about the water Jesus offered?

How did the woman respond?

How can we welcome someone others overlook?

A well of welcome

Draw a well with two buckets. Label one Water for the body and the other God's life for the heart. Add an example to each. Around the well write three respectful ways to welcome someone. Choose one action and discuss how it reflects Jesus' attention to the woman.

A note for parents and teachers

John 4 is the foundation; the reflection adds interpretations about loneliness and private feelings that the text does not directly report. Avoid labels about the woman's character or demands for children's personal disclosures.

Pray together

Jesus, give us the living water of your love. Help us listen truthfully and welcome others with care. Amen.
