Ember Days for Kids | Seasons of Prayer and Thanksgiving

Dec 8, 2025
2 min read

Father Thomas introduces Ember Days as seasonal times for prayer, fasting, and thanksgiving. Spring seeds, summer growth, autumn harvest, and winter stillness become reminders of God's gifts.

The teaching resources focus on gratitude, care for creation, and prayer for priests and those preparing for ordination. Activities for children use prayer and charity with adult guidance; they do not assign food restriction.

Talk about it together

What are Ember Days in this lesson?

Which seasonal gifts does Father Thomas describe?

Whom does the lesson invite us to pray for?

How can a child take part safely?

Four seasons of thanks

Divide a page into Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. Draw seeds, growth, harvest, and stillness in the matching sections. Add one thank-you prayer in each. In the center write a prayer for a priest or someone preparing to serve the Church.

A note for parents and teachers

Fasting practices depend on age, health, and Church guidance. This children's lesson assigns prayer and charity, not food restriction or a universal Ember Day obligation.

This resource is bound to the creator's detailed public story description because captions were unavailable. It does not assert extra scenes or timestamps. Ember Day observance varies by local calendar. Children should not restrict food; prayer and charity are suitable responses with adult guidance.

Pray together

God, thank you for your gifts in every season. Bless our priests and all preparing to serve your Church. Amen.
