Divine Mercy Sunday for Kids | Jesus Appears and Thomas Believes

Apr 6
2 min read

Jesus enters the room where his frightened friends have gathered and greets them with peace. He gives the Holy Spirit and the mission of forgiveness, then returns to invite Thomas toward faith.

The video and teaching pages connect the Gospel encounters with Divine Mercy Sunday. Children recall the story, bring honest questions to Jesus, and plan a merciful act without being asked to disclose private sins in a group.

Available free on YouTube since April 6, 2026. Watch the complete video above. Runtime: 3:03. Suggested ages: about 7–11.

Talk about it together

What greeting did Jesus offer his frightened friends?

What mission accompanied the gift of the Holy Spirit?

Why did Thomas struggle to believe?

How can we respond to Jesus' mercy?

Peace, forgiveness, trust

Make three doorway cards labeled Peace, Forgiveness, and Trust. Inside each write a John 20 story detail. Below each add a respectful response: a calming kindness, an honest apology, and a prayer of trust. Do not ask anyone to reveal sins or reenact sacramental absolution.

A note for parents and teachers

John says Jesus invited Thomas to touch, but does not state that he actually did. The reflection adds expressions and inner feelings. Trust does not mean every worry immediately disappears. Avoid requiring private confession in a group.

Pray together

Jesus, I trust in you. Bring your peace to our hearts and help us receive and share your mercy. Amen.
