Jesus feeds a hungry crowd with five loaves and two fish, then offers something greater: himself, the Bread of Life. When his teaching becomes difficult, Peter chooses to remain with the one who has the words of eternal life.

This John 6 retelling connects the hillside sign, Jesus’s promise, and the Eucharist. Its teaching pages welcome honest questions and help children grow in trust and understanding.

Talk about it together

What food was brought to Jesus?

What greater gift did Jesus promise?

Why did Peter remain when others left?

What can we do with an honest question about faith?

A question-and-trust card

Fold a card into two sections: “A question I have” and “A next step.” Write or draw a question about Jesus or Mass. Choose an adult to ask and a brief prayer for understanding. Private questions need not be read to the group.

A note for parents and teachers

The video paraphrases John 6 and adds illustrative crowd details. The hillside meal and later teaching are distinct episodes. Eucharistic faith affirms Christ’s real presence; the story’s hard language should be explained gently. Peter’s trust does not require pretending to understand everything.

Pray together

Jesus, Bread of Life, help us trust your love and keep learning from your words. Stay close to us as we bring you our questions. Amen.
