Saint Thomas Aquinas for Kids | Only Yourself, O Lord

Jan 19
2 min read

Thomas Aquinas loves big questions and patient study. In this illustrated story, he answers God's call to become a Dominican, learns with Albert the Great, and uses his gifts to help others understand the faith.

The resources connect his learning with humility and prayer. Children consider the traditional account of his desire for God himself and make a question card that supports honest, respectful exploration of faith.

Available free on YouTube since January 19, 2026. Watch the complete video above. Runtime: 6:28. Suggested ages: about 7–11.

Talk about it together

What did Thomas enjoy doing?

Who recognized gifts other students overlooked?

Why did Thomas want to become a Dominican?

What did the prayer before the crucifix show?

A question worth asking

Create a question card with three spaces: My honest question, A person or source that can help, and A prayer for understanding. Choose a question about faith; identify a trusted adult, Scripture, or Church teaching. Practice listening without teasing another child's question.

A note for parents and teachers

The prayer dialogue at the crucifix is a traditional biographical account; other dialogue is dramatized. Unkind nicknames should not be repeated as a classroom game. Honest questions are welcome, and answers may take patient study.

Pray together

God, help us seek truth with humble minds and loving hearts. Saint Thomas Aquinas, pray for us. Amen.
