Saint André Bessette Story for Kids | The Little Brother at the Door
Updated: Oct 18
Discover the inspiring story of Saint André Bessette, the humble “little brother at the door” who showed that God can do great things through small acts of faithfulness. Born Alfred Bessette in Canada, André was often sick and seemed too weak for important work. After joining the Congregation of Holy Cross, he was assigned to answer the door at a school near Montreal. There he welcomed visitors, listened to their burdens, prayed with them, and encouraged them to trust God and seek the intercession of Saint Joseph. As reports of healing spread and crowds grew, Brother André refused to take credit. His dream of a little chapel on Mount Royal eventually led to the magnificent Saint Joseph’s Oratory—but his greatest lesson was much simpler: Holiness can begin with a prayer, a kind word, a listening heart, or simply opening the door. This gentle animated Catholic saint story is made for children, families, classrooms, parish religious education, and homeschool.
After watching, families and catechists can talk about one moment that stood out, what it shows about following Jesus, and one small way to put that lesson into practice this week.
