The Baptism of Jesus for Kids | The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
John prepares the way beside the river, then Jesus arrives. As Jesus comes from the water, the Father's voice and the Spirit descending like a dove reveal the Holy Trinity.
This short reflection connects that Gospel event with Christian Baptism. The teaching pages explain why sinless Jesus did not need cleansing and invite children to give thanks for new life in Christ and belonging to his Church.

Talk about it together
Who baptized Jesus?
Why did sinless Jesus receive John's baptism?
How are the Father, Son, and Spirit revealed?
What gift do we receive in Christian Baptism?
Three signs, one God
Draw the river and Jesus. Add a speech symbol above for the Father's declaration and a dove shape for the Spirit. Label all three Persons, then write One God below. Add a separate baptismal font and one word for Baptism's gift: life, belonging, or grace.
A note for parents and teachers
John's baptism and the Christian sacrament are not identical. Jesus is sinless. The Spirit is not literally a bird; the Gospel says he descended like a dove. God loves every child, including one not yet baptized.
Pray together
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, thank you for calling us into your life. Help us live as your beloved children. Amen.
