Talk about it together

Whom do we celebrate on All Saints?

What do we especially do on All Souls?

What does purification mean here?

How can we share in this communion now?

Three circles, one communion

Draw three circles: Church on earth, saints in heaven, and those being purified. Join them with a large heart labeled Christ. Add a general prayer for the departed and one kind action for a living neighbor.

A note for parents and teachers

Discusses death and purgatory. Personal sharing is optional; the guide avoids judging a loved one's state and entrusts the departed to God's mercy.

November 1 celebrates All Saints; November 2 commemorates the faithful departed. The video's washing and letter images are comparisons. Purgatory is real final purification, distinct from damnation; saying it is not punishment needs that distinction rather than denying all purifying suffering. Saints are perfected by grace, not merely people who tried hard. Use a battery candle if needed.

Pray together

Jesus, thank you for your great family. Receive the faithful departed in your mercy and help us grow in holiness and love. All you saints of God, pray for us. Amen.
